Breeding in lines with acebird, 1st prize winner and Klak stockbirds

The last years Dick spend more and more time on tracing the lines of acebird and 1st prize winners. Striking was the outcome that the pigeons that really excelled structurally, often descend from the same parent(s) or relatives (that mostly also performed like real champs or won great victories). Dick says: “Once you cherish the good lines at your loft, they can be of great use when you breed in the lines. But this does not mean that every year is a super year.”

And Dick obviously owns some great lines from which he draw every year. At the moment he still owns 25 direct Klak pigeons from all the best lines of his late pigeon friend Jos de Klak. Since 1991 Dick purchased pigeons of the grandmaster from Reusel and he now still owns direct children and grandchildren to ’613, the lines of ‘Marietje’, ‘845 the Knook’, ‘525 Borgmans’, ‘566’, ‘Roodoger’, ‘926 goudklomp van Reusel’, ‘Goede 85 duif’, lines of ‘Oude Merckx’, etc.

Next to that he cherishes his own acebird lines that he houses from 1970 already when his top bird ‘Wittikske’ won 6th National on Orleans and a watch. He already made a furore in that year with three pigeons on Chateauroux and winning 6th and 11th in the National race (in the time all of Holland competed). And through the ‘Faroek hen’, ‘D’n Urs’, ‘Senna’ and the ‘073’ we move on through to the overall acebird of 2005, the ‘88’.

And naturally his one day long distance toppers that made him 1st champion one day long distance in Brabant province in 2005 and 2nd in 2006. Three of these toppers now house the breeding lofts.

Yes, his ‘Grote van de Dikkop’ (1st acebird one day long distance Brabant in 2005), the ‘121’ (1st acebird one day long distance Brabant in 2006 and also 5th Olympiad bird) and the ‘926’ (49th and 29th acebird one day long distance Brabant in 2005 and 2006) are true champions. Not many fanciers manage to walk the highest step of the podium in the 2,800 members province of Brabant.
